Go Under the Sea with us this April!
Horizon Rising Stars is thrilled to be coming back for a second season. In April, we’ll be going under the sea as we bring Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. to Ypsilanti! Join us April 11, 12, & 13, 2025 for a magical weekend of performances!
AUDITION INFORMATION
DATES: February 3 & 4, 2025. Callbacks will be February 5 by invitation only.
LOCATION: TBD. Please check back here and on our website for an update.
AGES: 6 - 18 years. Individuals 18 years old must be enrolled in high school in order to participate.

Anyone who wants to audition will be seen; however, those with an audition time will be seen first. If these dates/times do not work for you/your child, please email horizonperformingarts.mi@gmail.com for an alternative.
WHAT TO PREPARE: Please prepare a 1-minute song in the style of the show. Songs from the show are OK. Song choices should be similar to the style of The Little Mermaid and should showcase your voice, range, and acting ability. Please pick a song that is age and character appropriate. Most importantly, pick something you are comfortable singing! Please bring a YouTube backing track or an audio file that can be sent via Airdrop or text to auditions. The production staff will play the backing track for auditionees via a Bluetooth speaker. Instructions on how to send the backing track to staff will be given at auditions. Please come dressed to move, as there will be a short dance call.

Please bring a completed audition form, photo (if available), and a list of ALL conflicts to the audition. These items will not be returned to you. Please note that recurrent and/or excessive conflicts will play into casting.

Theatre designed specifically for young performers!
Horizon Rising Stars (HRS) was founded in January 2024 as an inclusive and welcoming space for youth performers. In April 2024, our inaugural production of James and the Giant Peach Jr. graced the stage at Riverside Arts Center and welcomed over 35 performers to our program. HRS will provide programming for individuals 18 and younger who want to engage in the performing arts and find ways to develop their theatre skills in a safe and welcoming environment. Following our mission statement, we will provide a space that is inclusive, inventive, and encouraging for those who may be new to theatre, as well as those who are experienced. We will open our doors specifically to those in this age group who are looking for additional performance opportunities outside of their school groups and provide an introductory experience to the adult and community theatre world.
